Once gum disease reaches the bone, ordinary scaling is not enough. Root planing cleans the root surfaces below the gum, quadrant by quadrant.

Laser disinfects the gum pocket and removes diseased tissue with far less bleeding and swelling than conventional gum surgery.

Where pockets remain deep after root planing, lifting the gum allows direct cleaning of the root and, where possible, bone regeneration.

Receded gums expose the root, which is softer than enamel and far more prone to decay and sensitivity. Grafting restores the covering.
