Aftercare

- Facial swelling that reaches the eye or affects breathing or swallowing is a hospital emergency — go to A&E, not a dental clinic
- Do not place aspirin directly on the gum; it burns the tissue
- Complete any antibiotic course even once the pain settles

We do not publish a figure for this treatment, because the honest answer is that it depends on what we find. Two patients needing emergency dental care can need very different work. You get your cost in writing after the examination and X-ray — before anything begins.

My tooth has been knocked out. What do I do right now?
Pick it up by the crown, never the root. If it is dirty, rinse briefly in milk or saline — never scrub it. Put it back in the socket if you can, or keep it in a cup of milk, and get to us within 30 minutes. Time is the single factor that decides whether the tooth survives.
My face is swollen. Is that urgent?
Yes. Facial swelling from a dental infection can spread quickly. Call us immediately. If the swelling reaches your eye, or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, go straight to a hospital emergency department.
Can I just take painkillers until my appointment?
Painkillers manage the symptom but the infection continues to spread. Dental pain does not resolve on its own — the nerve either gets treated or it dies and abscesses.
